Their sound grew darker and more refined with 2015’s The Bloodline and Deathbringer, leading to the 2016 EP Life/Death. KBTD made their mark on Finland’s live scene early on, playing throughout the capital region while honing their identity. In 2018, they unleashed Miserere Mei—a cold, cutting signal of what was to come.

After a few quiet years, KBTD returned in 2022 with Memoir—their most personal release to date, and the last with original vocalist Aatu Kovanen. As plans for a full-length album took shape, Markus Raito stepped in to take over vocals at the end of 2022. 

With new blood came new intensity. The band released Eternal Sleep in spring 2023, followed by I Am The One that fall—ushering in a heavier, more urgent sound. They returned to the stage with renewed fire, including a standout performance at the Hellsinki Metal Festival pre-event. In spring 2024, they released the powerful single Unity, while turning their focus to live shows and completing their most ambitious work yet. Now, after over a decade of evolution, Kneel Before The Death is set to release their self-titled debut album on June 6, 2025 through Ranka Kustannus. 

The content centers exclusively around KBTD’s lore, which also informed their songwriting choices: “We tell the story of an everyday man who has been haunted his entire life by an emperor of the afterlife lurking in the shadows, an entity called The Death. In his quest for revenge, the man conquers his inner demons and faces off with The Death in its kingdom, but in the end is consumed by and transformed into the very enemy he swore to destroy. In essence, it is a story of human vulnerability and the concept of causality.”

This full-length is a milestone that interweaves many metal genres, ruthlessly combining blast beats, tight guitar riffs, brutal vocals, and massive orchestrations. The album is expertly mixed by modern metal specialist Jonathan Dolese from Nashville, TN, and builds on years of reinvention and unrelenting grit.
